Shiny chrome Paramount
Just finished my latest project; a 1970 Schwinn Paramount P15. A couple of things really drew my attention to this bike. One, it was in almost original condition; it was the first year for the P15, the chrome was in amazing condition and the parts in overall good shape. I was surprised the bike came with the desirable Campagnolo "con denti" track pedals along with a Cinelli model 1 stem. I did change a couple of things; the original Brooks Professional saddle was toast, so I updated it with a newer professional model; I replaced the cables, housing and tires/ tubes. In addition, the original 54 tooth outer chainring was not practical here in Florida, so I moved the 49 tooth middle chain ring to the outer and replaced the middle with a 46 tooth chainring. I also had to ditch the original brake levels with safety levers and replace with hooded Weinmanns. The original Campagnolo Gran Turismo rear derailleur is a dog...but it shifts and is original... I'll keep it. I did replace the downtube decals as they were long gone, however, left the somewhat battered seat tube decal. Even with all it's glorious 26+- pounds of shiny metal, it is a really smooth riding bike...as long as I'm not in a hurry to get to my destination!
