Panto can be pretty darn sloppy depending on the wear on the burr plus the boredom (or hangover) of the engraver: it's hand-work...my expectation is that a casting would be sharper and more consistent, but even that process is subject to "tolerances"...anyhow, I'm speculating (and not a doctor)
