The newer SRAM Red brakes were designed to accommodate Firecrest rims, and they even work with 28mm (brake track) Easton EC90 Aero 55 rims, using regular pads. Fit is a bit tight.
You can also get EVO pads from Swisstop and Zipp that are a bit thinner. I used these with Firecrest and regular brake calipers.
I would guess the SRAM Red brakes with EVO type pads would fit 30-32mm rims if you don't mind running pads real close to rims. So that's sort of the current ceiling.
