Club swimming goes pretty much the entire year. There are actually two seasons. There is short course yards (SCY) season and long course meters (LCN) season. SCY season practice season starts early to mid-September and the first meets are in mid-October. SCY season ends in mid-March. In mid-April, practice for LCM season starts with meets starting in mid-May. The LCM season ends in late July.

There are National Championship meets throughout the year that are not tied to the above guidelines.

College and high school start in mid-October and end around early to mid-February.

Believe it or not, for all sports, they pretty much go the whole year.
