Seems there's a bit of a 'logic vacuum' in that article.
You see that time and time again on these forums. If you're digestive tract can take sports bars/gels with sport drink, go right ahead although it seems like you're wasting money somewhere. My take on it is to use sport drink in between sport bar meals which are swilled down with plain old water.
