At the risk of being banned from yet another useless forum site, let me just say that I reckon the levels of sucrose/glucose/fructose in sport drinks have more to do with appealing to the western palate (=$$$$) than any scientific reckoning (=minor interest). 95% of all sport drink sold is consumed by people who don't really need the benefit of any scientific studies on elite athletes drinking stuff at anaerobic threshold. Most athletes with half a brain mix their own because the off the shelf stuff is too sickly sweet when you're working hard
