Yes, they do work. I bought a set new probably in about 2003 because I wanted to shift a Campagnolo "Racing" (ha,ha, ha) triple on a Shimano 8 speed cog set. My main problem with them is that they are about the dimensions of a 1953 Buick Roadmaster. I substituted a Wheels MFR Shimagnolo spacer set and 8 speed Record shifters and am happier with the result. Particularly because I don't have those ginormous appendages blocking my view.
In my opinion, the Modolo shifters are not a good solution. I've been thinking of trying to sell the Modolo shifters on the 'bay, but I'm afraid I won't be able to handle the no bid humiliation.
Yea, that's sort of why I bought them. Interesting part of history but not something I would want to try to make work.
