Yes, they do work. I bought a set new probably in about 2003 because I wanted to shift a Campagnolo "Racing" (ha,ha, ha) triple on a Shimano 8 speed cog set. My main problem with them is that they are about the dimensions of a 1953 Buick Roadmaster. I substituted a Wheels MFR Shimagnolo spacer set and 8 speed Record shifters and am happier with the result. Particularly because I don't have those ginormous appendages blocking my view.
In my opinion, the Modolo shifters are not a good solution. I've been thinking of trying to sell the Modolo shifters on the 'bay, but I'm afraid I won't be able to handle the no bid humiliation.

In my experience, the shifting was spot on, but I needed longer thumbs!
I have short fingers and my thumbs could not "throw" that portion of the lever far enough for a full shift. They ended up being unsafe for me to use. top506 ended up with them. I'm not certain how they worked for him.

I have a pair out in the barn. I got the right to work OK with a 7-cog Shimano cluster but the left has a very long lever throw coupled with about the first half being a dead spot. Replaced them with A070 Tourney brifters the moment they were released.
