Besides being a great campionissimo, Bartali was honored by the holocaust museum in Israel for his efforts to save lives during the WW II occupation in Italy. This great man's memories must be preserved!
The museum is currently being run by volunteers and there is not even enough money to keep the lights on, so it only opens by appointment.
Please sign the petition that is being circulated at the above link. There is a further explanation of the museum's plight, in both English and Italian at the petition web page.
Please re-post this. We want to get as many signatures as possible so that the Italian government knows that enough people care about Gino Bartali's legacy.
