Late last October, not on a tour but an evening ride where I was in semi-time trial mode, I took a 90 degree turn way too hot, caught gravel and went down. Destroyed both shifters and other miscellaneous parts. I felt my helmet hit the asphalt twice and was thankful I was wearing one. I've had more enjoyable rides.
