Perhaps but it is always plausible that sram changed other factors of production for their stock bb's besides cosmetics/ appearance, such as materials to workmanship, which would help increase the number of people who have better luck.

The reason I even had that stock omnium bb in my parts bin to scavenge for my roadie was because I had bad luck with my first gxp bb which just so happened to have provided the opposite experience of what I am currently experiencing. I was surprised enough to share my experiences here.
