Thanks for the entertaining replies! My tax refund is arriving later this week and part of it is already earmarked for bike parts.

The Kilo TT frameset is decent IMO and the Omnium crankset is not all that special, so no.

The frame will be upgraded at some point within a year's time, possibly by this summer. But the drivetrain has gotten considerably noisy... the bike has got some miles on it!

How about getting a nice Shimano Ultegra crankset of the Bay, a few nice 6400 series cranks and a new bottom bracket would be right around $125

Tricolor is good stuff but finding a good 1/8 130bcd chainring that would match well with 600 gruppo would be a little more difficult maybe? At least in my searches.

Still, so many great old Shimano cranks are to be had. Even older Hollowtech cranks are excellent and cheap. I was riding on a 5600 crank for a while and loved it, too bad it isn't silver.

I never developed much interest in the 600 tricolor group, which is blasphemy on BF

I've been riding my Omnumnums with stock gxp BB for about 2 years with no issues at all. I cant think of a single bad thing to say about them. However given the chance to do it again I'd have gone the Sugino 75 route. I think they look better on a steel frame like my Big Block or your Kilo.

I love my 6400 Tricolor (8-speed STI) on my B'stone, and as far as brake/shifters at least - it is far superior to Dura-Acce
but as much as I love it - is damned silly to suggest its crankset to a guy wanting a new tarck crank for his Kilo
That being said...for whoever brought Deerhead up - it is crazy to talk about it in relation to fixed gear in any way...

I personally like the Kilo as a framset. That being said, is it worth investing more into the frameset than it is worth. If it were me, I would be looking for a quality road bike frameset for a conversion or saving up for a Wabi. Frameset/weight/geometry will make a bigger difference in my opionion.
Good luck, but done spend too much scrilla on upgrades for a frame you say you are going to get rid of. A wheelset or frame will be better money spent.
