Funny finding this thread.

I have a twin of your Raleigh in my stand right now undergoing a referb. I also used white cable housing and can't decide between white or black bar tape. I changed the 5 spd cassette for a 6 spd Perfect and the front der to a Suntour Comp V. The downtube shifter is a Huret unit. I am going in to the bike exchange this weekend to find a rear der. probably something Suntour. Hopefully it will look as good as yours when finished.
