But I was thinking with all the other crap that I"m seeing people are carrying in the way of computers and cameras, I may not actually be pushing the limits all that bad. The one thing that does have me concerned is water, should I pick up any water along the way, the weight of water is likely to add up quickly. I've got some nice 3 Liter water bottles I've been saving, however one Liter of water weighs in at approximately 2 Lbs... man that will get heavy quick.

So what other choices could we make to lighten up the load?
The sleeping bag, tent, tent foot print, sleeping pad all come in pretty light weight made for hikers.
Truly, I'd be so tempted to send 2/3 rds of this stuff home once I hit RT.66 because I"m sure there will be a slug of hotels / motels along that way..... however you can darn well bet that one day when I'm too damn tired or can't make it to the next best town. I'll wish I had not have shipped something back home. I'll see what happens when I get this all packed out for the first time, weighed and make a few local practice runs locally.
