Mate I've just realised I've probably confused you using the term 'offroad'. By 'offroad I mean 'not on shoulder' as opposed to actual dirt track. The independent offroad is well surfaced with bitumen and fully fenced. The onroad shoulder cw does continue from the M4 to the M7.
As for safety I think that Monavale Rd / Forest Way would probably be the best with better shoulders and less traffic.

Thanks for that berny. By wildlife, I mean fo the two legged variety. Around here, if you want to get rolled you ride on the cycle tracks. Actually they shouldn't call them cycletracks around here. About the only wheels that hit them are the bogans or their 14 year old girlfriends pushing their strollers.
But yeah, at that stage of my ride, quicker'd be the go. And the less little hillocks the better as well.
