I see. I am in the same boat, have BB7 MTB on 6 bikes, drop and regular bars (may be 7) and recently got BB7 road for 1 and Spyres for another. As much as I love BB7 - Spyres are my new favorite, hands down. I liked them so much that I started replacing some BB7 MTBs with Spykes (fronts only so not that pricey).
I will probably end up going with Spyre or Spykes for all fronts on all frequent riders and will end up with spare BB7 so win/win :-)
On the subject of price - while you can get older BB7 cheaper than Spyres, on new models it is a wash (I mainly buy from UK and Germany stores).
