I am going to send a message to the fellow, expressing my interest to go for it. I, needless to say, will ask to see a picture or two, and suggest he ship to a good friend in Duluth. Boy, I hope this pans out. Why..?

Because I really like vintage road bicycle and even more-so when the "how found" proves to be an interesting story. Have a look at How I Got the Carlton. Probably my best ever how found story.

Sadly, I sold the Carlton, only to find out later that the forks were a bit tweaked. Today, I know how to check frame/fork sets for true so that will not happen again.
If your customer is able to disassemble/reassemble the bicycle and has access to a good shop, the frame realignment is not so expensive.

But I can see how your pride and desire to assure satisfaction is a little shaken.
