A more upright posture will certainly get more weight off your hands but you will need a somewhat shorter stem in order for the reach to the bars to be comfortable. At that point there will be more weight on the saddle in which case your current saddle may not be comfortable. Change one thing and it will effect everything else. Try the more upright and make whatever other changes may become necessary one at a time.
Thanks, I have a bontrager comfort saddle so I think I'm good on that front. I'm going to a maintenance class at the shop on Sunday so I'll talk to them about stem options.
