I could be wrong but I just don't see this bike gaining any real kind of value other than it's use as a bike and being a pretty good bike. I paid $175 cnd for it because it is my size and it is like new and really didn't need much more than tires and a little tweaking to be a good touring bike for me. Please if I am wrong and someone feels like this bike will become worth some bigger dollars let me know.

It is just really nice to be able to climb on it and have it look and feel like a very pretty brand new bike. Unlike my trek which is good but beat to hell. Unfortunately cycle touring, plane and other cargo holds among other things will take it's toll and within time this appolo will not be nearly as pretty but will still be a very good bike and had some really cool adventures.

Forgive me but I do not follow this at all. What do you mean by this?

This is my thinking exactly. It just seems like there was a big "Down tube shifter SNOBBERY" that was prevalent in the years before brifters?

Like I get the snobbery mentality as I have fallen for it with my mtn bike being all XTR and my road all ultegra but for some reason this Downtube vs Stem rivalry seems odd to me?
