A few cane creek (higher end?) models, have an interloc spacer ring interface, in the top race also interlocking spacer rings..

Kind of like tongue and groove rings.. so to have spacers act like a whole when plugged into each other..

too bad about the stripping parts off your bike when locked up. that sucks..

NB: Pitlock has a keyed bolt and top cap, that would require a specific key wrench-socket to take it apart , (and adjust the pre load).. top cap ...
