Thanks all - lots of great ideas here.

I'm especially interested in something with little or no palm padding. I find large pads get in the way more than anything. I don't usually wear gloves when it's warm, and I have a good thick pair of lobsters for below freezing temps. Might try the Louis Garneau wind protects or some other cheap amazon special. Will report back with my experience!
