A couple years ago via phone conversation, a Salsa rep advised that Vaya's light-touring designation means a maximum 50 lbs cargo limit, although you've got bigger problems if you carry fifty pounds of gear on tour.

Also consider bicycles have a practical overall (user+gear) load limit - 300 lbs total on a LHT/DT, probably less for a Vaya.
