Vaya loading questions...
Just picked up my vaya from the shop (finally) and would like to know if even though it's considered light touring, how heavy people have gotten on one. My racks are the Tubus Logo Evo and the Tubus Ergo front rack. (2017 Claris variant; chromoly fork)

There's a website/youtube channel called Milestone Rides (?), and they ride Salsa Vaya bicycles on tours. They did a 90-day across-the-USA ride on 'em with full front and rear panniers, stopping at campsites along the way.

Can't comment on the Vaya as I have never ridden one, but the Logo is rated at 40 kg (88 pounds), Ergo is rated at 10 kg (22 pounds).
I am sure that I have overloaded my Ergo and it continues to work great. My Logo stays solid with a heavy load but I don't think I have put a full 40 kg on it, that is a lot of weight.
You did not say if you are installing the racks or if the bike shop already did. If you are, I suggest blue loctite on all rack bolts.

I have an Ortlieb front and back* roller pannier set on mine, my typical load is Groceries in the back ones.
I Saw a Couple Viyas , At end of tours, they were left to box and ship back east .. my summer job @ LBS.
* their stuff is very popular among the hundreds of riders cycling down the Pacific coast every summer..

A couple years ago via phone conversation, a Salsa rep advised that Vaya's light-touring designation means a maximum 50 lbs cargo limit, although you've got bigger problems if you carry fifty pounds of gear on tour.
Also consider bicycles have a practical overall (user+gear) load limit - 300 lbs total on a LHT/DT, probably less for a Vaya.

I have a 2013 Vaya that is my go to bike for touring... Granted, I pack on the light side, maybe 35# of gear max... It's a relatively comfy bike though I find the AWOL to be slightly more comfortable for long days in the saddle.
