For my long, oval head, I'll have to agree with the above (actually, Giro Synthe MIPS in my case). I don't see myself ever paying that much for a helmet, but at one point I went and tested all the available helmets in my favourite LBS and Synthe was the best by a long shot. Runner-ups include Giro Cinder (they didn't have the MIPS version unfortunately, otherwise I might have had bought it) and Lazer Blade. In general I find that helmets with a retention system that fully envelop the head work best for me - along with the three already mentioned, my last two helmets were Uvex mid-level MTB models with visors removed, that also feature this type of retention.
