Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Helmet for "long oval" head shape

Hello everyone.
I need a helmet as much as possible oval.
Preferably universal Road/XC. The circumference is 62 cm, but no helmet from the local store has come up. The length of the head is 23.5-24 cm.
Who has the opportunity, please measure the length of your helmets at the extreme points inside the helmet. The width is also not bad to know. And write the name, the size of your helmet.
Therefore, thanks in advance for those who help me.

I don't know how oval is oval, but I think that I've got an oval-ish head. After trying on a bunch of different brands over the summer, I confirmed that Specialized helmets are, far and away, the best fit for my noggin. It looks like my Propero (vIII?) could adjust to fit the length specified and the width is a little more than 17mm. I assume that my helmet is a Large, but I took off all of the stickers, so I don't know for sure.

It would be weird to have a perfectly spherical head.

What helmets did you try, so we don't waste time measuring one against which you've decided?

Bell is more oval than Giro, even though they're the same company. I like Bell, and a Giro just won't ever feel comfortable.

I love the fit of Bell helmets, and wear an XL.

Bell. Their helmets tend toward the long oval, wider in the rear than front -- pretty typical skull shape in my family. My inexpensive Bell Solar fits perfectly.

Almost approached the helmet from Kellys. MET also met the Crossover, its length is 22 cm, and I need about 23.5. The most unsuitable -Fox flux.
Also I measured Cratoni, BBB - do not fit in length. I would like to know the length of the various Specialized, Bell large and XL sizes

What market are you in? Do neither of these manufacturers have in-store availability in your area?

Bell for oval seconded (or thirded). Also find the Cannondale Cypher fits similarly.. usually can find discounted.. one example if you can live with the color scheme

I also have a long oval head and am currently wearing a Lazer. Fits great.

Bikes: An old orange one for dirt, and for the other stuff: a white one, a kinda mint green one, and a black one.

Big ol' oval head here.

The Giro Synthe is the best I've tried.

For my long, oval head, I'll have to agree with the above (actually, Giro Synthe MIPS in my case). I don't see myself ever paying that much for a helmet, but at one point I went and tested all the available helmets in my favourite LBS and Synthe was the best by a long shot. Runner-ups include Giro Cinder (they didn't have the MIPS version unfortunately, otherwise I might have had bought it) and Lazer Blade. In general I find that helmets with a retention system that fully envelop the head work best for me - along with the three already mentioned, my last two helmets were Uvex mid-level MTB models with visors removed, that also feature this type of retention.

It's been a few years since I tried on new helmets but it used to be Giro for round heads and Bell for elongated heads.

Does anyone wear a Kask, and how do these fit (eg. more like a Bell or a giro)? Ribble has some pretty good prices on some colors of the Protone, and am tempted to give this helmet a shot.

Which is it? The shell or the retention system?

Seems like the shell relates to the head size overall and the retention system the inside, allows for the adjustment to fit the shape of the head.

Some helmets have a better retention system with more adjustable points.
