Thought I was the only one that experienced that. I've pretty much given up in Amazon of late for that exact reason.

Bike shops succumb to it too. I suspect that your dealer wants to package your order with enough additional bikes to get the best price and free shipping.
I've been told this by an LBS, especially in the offseason when they aren't ordering things on a regular basis.
