John, I still figure that this specific issue won't affect many touring bikes, as it's rare that cf forks are used, and it's an issue that is understood and dealt with.

In the end, I've toured with all three types of brakes discussed here, in mountainy terrain, and had a wonderful time on all trips, and stopping!
