Gotta agree with you here. When I first read the quote from your co-worker "What, no bike..." I thought that it could be taken in a few ways. Heck, in certain circumstances it might even be a compliment, as in 'you are such a dedicated rider I even expected you to brave this weather.'

But you made it very clear that the guy is a jerk, and was being a jerk. You clearly specified that the comment was meant in a negative and derogatory way.

So yeah, I don't really understand the responses from some people here. You can't really say, "I'm sure it was good-natured, get over it..." when the OP, who was there and actually knows the guys, says that it wasn't. Seems like a lot of people here want to be that good guy (or gal) that always takes the high road, but there's a time and a place for that, and this isn't it.

And since everyone is suggesting their preferred responses, how about this: Next time you drive to work, wait for him at the end of the day by the exit to the parking lot. Then, when you see him, ask him if he wants to have a race to his car. Say it with a smile and a laugh, so you cover your bases with the do-gooders, but he will get the point.
