As far as San Antonio, Austin, and Houston...they ain't wrong. Wanting off the bus system because bus #1 being consistently late, causing the layover for bus#2 to be 50-90 minutes, which then takes 30 minutes to go 5 miles is how I got into bike commuting. Also the bus service is much more robust in poorer neighborhoods(which makes perfect sense, but reinforces the minority thing).
