I've had this happen a couple times. Last time was my new Lemond Sarthe after 4 months of riding. The LBS wrench took it off my car, walked it back to the shop and 5 minutes later returned to me saying "This is just part of the service we provide for all bikes sold here for the first full year - no matter how many times you bring it in for adjustments." What impressed me was that the LBS was busy and he didn't hesitate 1 second to tighten up the BB and put the bike back on my car.
To loose a paying customer that just bought a nice bike 2 months ago over a very simple issue (< 45 for the lbs for sure) is crazy and unacceptable.
