If you google it, there are lacing patterns that actually make it so the "tie" happens between the top holes on the outside of the shoe. It still laces and holds the shoe tight. You can do that. You can tuck the laces under the crossed lacing. You can get those plastic lace holders. But do something, because you can have a nasty accident otherwise.
