It's not cotton, but I wrapped this honey Fizik tape over the old slip on foam stuff. I added a small piece of foam behind each brake lever to make it continuous, then tightly wrapped the Fizik tape over it. Came out fantastic in my opinion! Nice and soft, plus it makes the bar a little fatter which I really like. I will definitely be using the same technique in the future. Only thing to watch out for is making sure your tape is long enough. With the added girth of the foam I just barely had enough tape to fully wrap this 42cm bar.
