Savannah is a gorgeous town. I was there last week. Spanish moss, old churches, lots of art due to SCAD. You could do worse.

Consider the Alabama coast, Santa Rosa Beach or Rosemary Beach Florida.

Greenville is also gorgeous. I would love to move there.

None of these are the tropics however and it will get cold. South of Tampa is the best bet if you want really warm winters.
