If most of your riding is on tarmac and you are running slicks, why not look at a big tire road bike, such as a “gravel” or “all road bike? Something that can run bike tires (like 42s)?

Otherwise, I would go with a 29er. IMO, the main reason to go with 27.5 (or 26) with an MTB is for the handeling aspects In technical trail riding.

That is my take on it, anyway.
