Fluticasone nasal inhalers work okay, but there's the glucocorticoid/cortisol response thing as a potential side effect, so it's always a balancing act between breathing and everything else. Generic ephedrine/guaifenesin tablets work but have their own side effects. Everything is a compromise.
Have you tried an Advair Diskus? It's a combo of fluticasone and salmeterol. My wife and I have been using these medications every day for maybe 30 years with no detectable side effects of any sort. They come in various dosages. Talk to your pulmonoligist - you have one, right?
