I was in a bit of a conundrum as I was scheduled to work this weekend. Where my house is, it currently 2 feet above the flood waters of the Saint John River south of Fredericton NB, Canada. Right now in my region is a spring freshet surpassing anything in the last 100 years thus cutting the road I live on off at the shallowest point 1.5 feet of water. The type of work I do is supplying work crews, machinery, generators for emergency operations, pumps ect with fuel so they can continue working. Needless to say with all the closed off roads and hectic schedule, the company I work for is extremely busy and not going to work was not an option. All this said, the water was too high for my vehicle to get through so I commuted with my bike 25 km each way. It was not an epic ride for me but it WAS one of the most interesting.
