Identifying Litespeed year and model

I just picked up a Litespeed road frame. The seller said it was a 2004 Tuscany, but I do not believe that's correct.

Firstly, the tubing is round, not shaped. The 2004 catalog indicates it would have been shaped.
Secondly, it has a matte finish, not brushed or painted. I'm not seeing that as an option in 2004.
The litespeed decals were removed at some point, but the handcrafted in the USA sticker on the seat tube is still there, as is the head badge. The badge is a large black L with three black 'club' shapes, and a tri colored flag peaking out around the sides. It's attached with two small allen bolts.

On the bottom bracket shell, one side is stamped 96870, and the 57 under that. I think the 57 is the size, as the seller advertised it as such (and it looks correct.) I think the other number is the serial number, but I can't seem to find much on how to interpret the number.
The other side of the bracket has what looks like the letter G, then some space, and the letters FN. I have zero idea what those mean.

What I was able to find seems to indicate that serial numbers starting with a 9 are probably from 2005. I couldn't find a corroborating source though. I'm thinking its maybe a 2005 classic? Or some other model?

Halp?!
