I finally installed it last night after being on a bike-friendly European vacation (Amst, Copenhagen, Oslo, Bergen) and it fit just fine. I haven't had a chance to try it, and won't until tomorrow. I like the look of the black FSA ring over the aluminum Shimano 36 underneath.

I showed my wife the old chainring and even she could see how worn out it was compared to the new one. There was nothing left to the teeth, no wonder it would slip under hard pedaling.
