Bikes: 2009 Handsome Devil, 1987 Trek 520 Cirrus, 1978 Motobecane Grand Touring, 1987 Nishiki Cresta GT, 1989 Specialized Allez Former bikes; 1986 Miyata Trail Runner, 1979 Miyata 912, 2011 VO Rando, 1999 Cannondale R800, 1986 Schwinn Passage

I am a big fan of the Motobecane Grand Touring, I have a 78 with the Vitus main tubes, and I am in the process of rehabbing mine right now. That said I would classify it as more sport road than real tourer, no canti brakes, it doesn't have a lot of room for fenders with standard sized 27x1 1/4 tires, etc.. If you are really wanting a touring bike may I suggest a mid 80s Japanese frame of which there are many fine examples, they don't call it the golden age of touring bikes for nothing, just search on the "show your Japanese touring bike" thread here

If the French thing is the most important than by all means go with a Moto_GT YMMV
