Jock, i havent been listening tonight....but i did hear from a mate online that we are getting smashed.

I think it was about US$3700 with insurance when I came over. They also screw you with some port and customs fees. And if AQIS needs to inspect anything, that's extra. I can give you some tips on packing, and the name of a company to contact for a quote. Full service isn't cheap, but if you pack your own like I did, it's not so bad. Transit time depends on where else the ship stops. From Oz to the US, it's between 21 and 32 days. Probably something similar in the other direction, but you need to consider port time as well. Once it arrives at the port, it may take a week or two for your stuff to be inspected and released.
Unless you've got nothing, it's much cheaper to get a container than try to buy all new stuff over here. If I had to do it over again, I'd pack some Ford and Chevy parts, along with more bike gear. Bring the right items back, and you'll pay for your container, plus make a small profit.
PM me if there's anything you don't want to ask on the forums, or you want the details of the shipping company.
Cheers.
