I will go for a compromise. I will carry one tube and one patch kit. I am hoping if I get a puncture, it will only be one for the day. My rides are not epic. Max is around 40 kilometers.
Hopefully, any patching will be done at home and the old blown tube can be re-use again.
I tend to get flats in bunches... none for 6-9 months and then 3 or 4 in a row, frequently 2 on one ride. That's usually when I chuck the tire.
