Anyone know of a place similar in either the Portland or Seattle areas?

Sean,

Suggest that you include your location in your posts.

In Seattle, check Free Range Cycles or Wright Brothers, both in Fremont. Recycled Cycles is always good (be sure to check the collection hanging overhead). Bike Works in Columbia City (several of us C&V-ers volunteer at this non-profit) has more volume of used bikes and components than RC, but fewer road bikes although there are always gems to be found like the early 80’s Rodriguez I just rebuilt for a friend. If you ride a big frame, there’s a a mid-90’s Marinoni with 10-speed Campy freshly tuned at the Ferdinand St. Shop, and a lovely newer Hampsten at the Hudson St. Warehouse!

There are lots of great classic bike resources in Portland (calling Andy_K, gugie, jyl and others) but sadly Velo Cult closed its doors several months ago. We will greatly miss the semi-annual Velo Cirque gatherings there, where lots of the PNW faithful met in person.

BTW, watch this forum for PNW area rides.
