I would like to keep the original bb setup.
A spindle length of 121 sounds to me like it is for a triple. Do you have a square taper road triple to try? I found an SR Suntour “Superbe” triple (drive side spider only) that I am building up with NOS Salsa middle and outer 130mm rings and a 30 tooth inner Shimano ring (74 bcd) that I believe will work for a Trek multitrack hybrid that I’m turning into a drop bar touring bike.
As as far as my ‘89 Klein Quantum is concerned, I have the Phil Wood bottom bracket for it. I have fallen behind on my mechanic work so I have yet to install it. Once I do, My thought is that I will try to run Dura Ace 9000 crank and component group on the bike. For wheels I have Campagnolo Bora Ultra tubulars that I bought on clearance. These are the shallow sidewall climber set with carbon rims. I have a Ritchey carbon comp fork with a Soma 1” threadless headset that I’m using. Hopefully the project will get back into process now that outdoor riding has all but stopped.
