The pressed in original bottom bracket was relatively easy to knock out the spindle and then the bearings. The bearings and spindle were unharmed upon removal.

I instructed my beloved LBS to call Phil and order the bottom bracket. Am waiting on a call to say that the parts are now in stock.

Nice, hopefully all works out. I am still gathering parts and time (that I want to dedicate to this...with 4 bike projects going on it is hard)

I have a Klein Quantum serial Q0098 probably an '89.

BB shell 75mm wide with 121mm spindle equal on each side (23mm).

I'm trying to find a crankset that will work. The big problem is getting the chainline set.

I would like to keep the original bb setup.

A spindle length of 121 sounds to me like it is for a triple. Do you have a square taper road triple to try? I found an SR Suntour “Superbe” triple (drive side spider only) that I am building up with NOS Salsa middle and outer 130mm rings and a 30 tooth inner Shimano ring (74 bcd) that I believe will work for a Trek multitrack hybrid that I’m turning into a drop bar touring bike.

As as far as my ‘89 Klein Quantum is concerned, I have the Phil Wood bottom bracket for it. I have fallen behind on my mechanic work so I have yet to install it. Once I do, My thought is that I will try to run Dura Ace 9000 crank and component group on the bike. For wheels I have Campagnolo Bora Ultra tubulars that I bought on clearance. These are the shallow sidewall climber set with carbon rims. I have a Ritchey carbon comp fork with a Soma 1” threadless headset that I’m using. Hopefully the project will get back into process now that outdoor riding has all but stopped.

Yes, those shifters index, cables through the DT.
Yes, that's a triple on a symmetrical BB square taper.
Yes, that's a 10-sp cassette and RD.
Yes, that's a 3x10 compact triple FD
Yes, that's an Innicycle headset/stem adapter.
Yes, that's a Performance Carbon 1" threaded fork.
It was a great project. I swore multiple times.

Without the bags, 22.87 lbs, including the rack, cages, pedals and those 700x28 tires. (Conti 28's were too big).
