I thought that I'd be honest with this thread.
My way of doing it was:
Cost of bike shipped to me and all accessories that I needed.
This included:
- Bike lock
- Bike lights
- Fenders
- Parts (several tyres and several tubes until I determined a combo)
- Consumables (oil and brake pads; now new fenders)
- Bar changes (to a flat bar with grips)
I have distinct feeling that I'll stay around $0.25/mile for a while as bikes take a beating over here between weather and just a beating in the bike racks/locker and from accidents/attempted theft.
I think that it will get cheaper when people have a longer commute (but our $/commute will stay the same).
Anyways, I applaud your suggestion.
