I like to keep the home screen so that it displays how many miles I've ridden in the calendar year. My commute is 13 miles round trip, and I ride more than just commuting, so I'm on target to hit 3,000 miles this year, which makes me feel good.
I don't use a smartphone. I have one cateye mity 3, which I swapped between my crosscheck and my hardtail. Even though I can switch between A/B bike tire diameters, the odometer doesn't keep separate track, so I can only guess what portion of them miles were which bike.
When I got my Krampus, for some reason I couldn't get the harness and computer to work. so I gave up and my Krampus miles are completely untracked. Except when I remember to wear my fitbit, the ride is automatically detected and the duration logged, so I could guesstimate distance from a nominal mph.
