Ended up replacing mine after 2 years because I'm like an Irish cardigan-- a heavy sweater.

Replaced the strap once, which bought me some time. Eventually the unit itself went haywire. I figured 2 years/12,000+ miles was acceptable.

I do regularly wash the strap, seems to help.

I've heard from others that they contacted Wahoo customer support and they hooked them up on a new one, though. It never occurred to me to try that, although I've had excellent experiences with Wahoo support on other issues.
