I got one when my Garmin strap died, and I've been pleased with it for 2-3 years; easy to put on and take off, easy battery change, easy pairing.

And now it's broke. It looks like the snap in the "head" corroded and "welded" to the strap, so when I took it off last night the part of the snap on the unit broke off and came off with the strap. My sweat must be highly corrosive, and I don't see any easy way to fix it. Any suggestions would be welcome!

My Wahoo is 3 years old and still going strong.

I will say that my Sigma HRM has a much better resolution that my Wahoo HRM, of you need to buy a new one. What I'm saying is that the Sigma shows increase or decrease in HR much more often and quickly.

You gotta rinse the sensor and wash the strap from time to time (assuming you don't).
Hopefully my TickR will last longer than my Garmin Premium HRM did.

Ended up replacing mine after 2 years because I'm like an Irish cardigan-- a heavy sweater.

Replaced the strap once, which bought me some time. Eventually the unit itself went haywire. I figured 2 years/12,000+ miles was acceptable.

I do regularly wash the strap, seems to help.

I've heard from others that they contacted Wahoo customer support and they hooked them up on a new one, though. It never occurred to me to try that, although I've had excellent experiences with Wahoo support on other issues.

I purchased my Tickr in the summer of 2012 after the Garmin HRM my wife gave me went bad. It still has the original strap. I remove the head unit from the strap and wipe it down after each ride (especially around the snaps) and put it in my bike bag detached from the strap. I also wipe down the electrodes on the strap after each ride. I wash the strap when I'm in the shower, as needed. Never had an issue with the HRM.

I just bought a Tickr today after doing a ride where my old Garmin just wouldn't kick in. It has a fairly fresh battery but it just won't start sometimes. I gave up and bought a new Tickr with my points. Besides, I wanted a Bluetooth compatible device so I could use it with Rouvy on my phone. All of my other SW and HW support both.

Santa's bringing me a new Wahoo (I saw the package I ordered when my wife was wrapping presents last night!). I'll try to remember to rinse it at least once a day -- probably after the homeward commute. I hope that will help with the corrosion problem.

And of course now that I bought a new Tickr, the old Garmin started to work normally.

Almost as good as getting the guy from the help desk to lay his hand on your computer...
