I've been using either SRAM or KMC chains for many years and really can't tell much difference. Basically I'd buy either 8 speed or 9 speed versions and use the 8s on freewheels and 9s on cassettes (nothing larger than a 9 speed cassette).

This fall I bought a couple of KMC anti-rust chains to go on my winter bike and my folder (which is mostly ridden near the beach). Anyone had experience with the anti rust chain? Riding conditions have been awful and unsafe here in the NH mountains, so I've not had the pleasure yet.

FWIIW, when Rivendell and Grant sent out their email last week saying they could use a bit of help, I was perusing their store and his blog and he commented that they were using and selling just KMC chains at this point.
