I too had a problem with them. I purchased some vintage TA crank shorteners to deal with my knee problems. When I got them, the left side had of course been cross threaded but seemed adequate and it was my only option to get riding at the time so I kept them and carefully cleaned the threads. Three months later the left pedal fell out, $75 down the drain.

The braze-on pulleys were the same size as the clamp ons. Phooey. They'll probably take them back, stay on them.
